D&A Posted February 13, 2010 Share #1 Posted February 13, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi All, It may have been mentioned previously (I would be surprised if it didn't...but when setting the sequence of day/month/year in the menu settings, regardless of which one is picked....the only sequence that shows up ("takes") is day/month/year in that order, when an image is viewed on the LCD and "info" button is pressed. Anyone else notice this in their M9? Thanks! Dave (D&A)

Alnitak Posted February 13, 2010 Share #3 Posted February 13, 2010 I never noticed this, but you are correct, it does not change. Minor glitch, but yet another reason we should have a sticky with firmware fixes in it, just to be sure they all get captured in one spot. John Black Posted February 13, 2010 Share #4 Posted February 13, 2010 I just posted this in the firmware thread also; this seems somewhat similar to the date issue. Maybe I'm missing something really simple here, but I think I've found a firmware bug. My M9 will not display AM / PM properly at 12:00 PM (noon). Time is currently set in 12 hour mode and this is what it will do: Time set @ 12:30 = 12:30 AM in 12-hour mode (should be 12:30 PM). Time set @ 13:30 = 1:30 PM in 12-hour mode (formatted correctly) The AM/PM error appears to be limited to just noon-time. I have not checked EXIF on any files taken @ noon-time to see if the AM/PM gets baked into the EXIF or not. That's the next thing to check. I'm surprised Leica has not posted a firmware update since the M9's release. Cleaning up this minor firmware issues should be relatively quick and would improve the out-of-the-box experience. adan Posted February 13, 2010 Share #5 Posted February 13, 2010 I'm surprised Leica has not posted a firmware update since the M9's release. Cleaning up this minor firmware issues should be relatively quick and would improve the out-of-the-box experience. It's a balancing act - I'd prefer not to have to upgrade my firmware 3 or 4 times in the first year, so if Leica is holding off to solve and include as many issues as possible in "Update One" (and we know there are quite a few), that is OK. Also, the updates do have to work together. Given the M9's processing power, I imagine writing firmware for it is sort of like the scenes in Apollo 13 where Gary Sinise is in the simulator, trying to find the exact right order to throw switches to power up the capsule without breaking the limited power budget. Changing the clock code may affect something else, which affects something else......It's all got to fit in ROM and keep the battery use low (battery use being another problem needing work, per Leica themselves.) I'd say a screwy clock is a very low priority fix given the other things Leica needs to work on. FIx it, sure - but a shiny new update that fixes the clock, and doesn't fix the red edges, slow zooming, and so on, is just a waste of bandwidth. D&A Posted February 13, 2010 Author Share #6 Posted February 13, 2010 Hi All, Thanks very much for all the replies. I just wanted to mention that just becuase I pointed out this glitch, doesn't mean it needs to be immediately addressed or is important to the functioning relative to other more important issues...like red edge problem. Simply, I was pointing it out to see if it was a glitch in my firmware of my particular camera...and had to be reloaded, or in all other cameras. This is one small problem that I'm sure we can all live with until which time its addressed. Thanks again. Dave (D&A)
