doublep Posted February 13, 2010 Share #1 Posted February 13, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) After many years of photography, and after 2 years of digital Leica rangefinder photography (now with an M9), I find myself with 3 lens: A 35mm, a 50mm and a 90mm. What is interesting is that my "lens trip" has been quite eventful. I tried several lenses from Cosina Voigtlander and one from Zeiss. I also tried a few Leica lens. But in the end, I have ended with the Summiluxes for my 35mm and my 50mm. For my taste, I find that nothings beat the way they draw. Not that the other lenses are bad. The Summiluxes are just in a class of their own. Had I known this from the start, I could have saved myself a lot of money by buying the 'Luxes immediately... Oh well, you live and learn... bill Posted February 13, 2010 Share #2 Posted February 13, 2010 Had I known this from the start, I could have saved myself a lot of money by buying the 'Luxes immediately... Oh well, you live and learn... Ah, but the key point here is that if someone had said to you, right at the start, "35, 50, 90, and make two of them Summiluxes", you may have followed that advice, but you would not have benefited from the journey that you have taken to arrive at your current state. You would have missed out on discovering for yourself exactly what suited you, and you may have always wondered... what if... Now, as a result of your experiences, you have arrived at what makes you happy, and that is something to be happy about, in and of itself. My trajectory has taken me "through" more lenses than I care to name. Some, like the superlative DR Summicron I have sold on, then bought back again, learning in the process. I too have arrived at the palette that suits me. It is different to yours, but that is because I am not you. Enjoy, and post some images. Regards, Bill
thrice Posted February 13, 2010 Share #3 Posted February 13, 2010 I got a 35 summarit, which I sold for a 35 lux asph, I bought the 90 elmarit-m after my experience with the 90AA-R and I have no regrets. I bought a 50/1.1 nokton (CV) and a 50/2.5 color-skopar. I love both lenses but if I were to do it again I would probably get a 50 lux asph instead. I also have an 18 and 25, both Zeiss, but I like wides.
