nickmeertens Posted February 12, 2010 Share #1 Posted February 12, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello, A question if I may. I just got a used v4 Summicron 35mm and wonder if the play on the aperture ring is normal. I can turn it past F2 and F16 and doing so opens and closes the aperture a little beyond what it is at F2/F16. Is this normal? If not, does anyone know a good place in The Netherlands to send it to for CLA? Best, Nick

microview Posted February 14, 2010 Share #5 Posted February 14, 2010 Bought one of these recently and found aperture ring somewhat slack: ie. all half stops work but feels sloppy near f2–2.8. Presumably wear.I also found it very flare prone so sent it (UK) to Malcolm Taylor who found oil contamination inside the lens. Now cleaned and focusing relubricated (more resistant to turning, it now feels like my two recent aspherics: 50/1.4, 24/2.8). Flare resistance now good! It pays to have an expert look at these old(ish) lenses.
peter_n Posted February 15, 2010 Share #6 Posted February 15, 2010 Absolutely normal.Yes it is. I use a v.1 and an ASPH and they both have this "feature".
