tmldds Posted February 11, 2010 Share #1 Posted February 11, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I bought the the coder kit version II, but could not find a code for my 35 Lux preasph. I would appreciate any suggestion. Thank you, Tri.

adan Posted February 11, 2010 Share #2 Posted February 11, 2010 There is none. Leica has never supported that lens with a 6-bit code because it has a different mount construction than other Leica M lenses (that thick chrome ring with no screws on the back) which is much more difficult to replace with a coded mount. And also because many samples of the lens won't even fit on an M8 and focus to infinity - the black protective ring for the rear element hits something in the M8 body. On an M9, it can be manually identified in a lens menu. Possibly that functionality will appear in an M8 firmware upgrade (although Leica says not, thus far). Your options would be to try the codes for the ASPH 35 f/1.4 or one of the 35 'crons and see which one works best for corrections (the 35mm f/2 pre-ASPH is a very close design optically - seven-element modified double-gauss). For EXIF data, you'd just have accept it being "wrong" on an M8. Or just shoot without a code. I used uncoded 35 f/2 lenses on my M8s with IR filters and saw no problems with the images.
