innerimager Posted February 8, 2010 Share #1 Posted February 8, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I tend to shoot my M7s when working with film, and the M5 has been in the cabinet. I was about to sell it when I saw a post in a thread on the noctilux about the M5 being a good body for working with this lens. (I have a pre-asph, last version nocti from way before the crazy price increases). So I've been playing with the combo and it's very compelling. The size of the M5 balances the nocti nicely. But more so, having that lovely spot meter and shutter speed read out allows for the precise metering control needed shooting at F1 where selecting the exact area to meter is very helpful. So, I think I just might pronounce them "body and lens" and let them live happily ever after!
Advertisement Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 Hi innerimager, Take a look here M5 + noctilux anyone?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Guest maddoc2003jp Posted February 8, 2010 Share #2 Posted February 8, 2010 I have used this combination quite often one year ago ... Indeed well balanced and the spot-meter of the M5 works excellent. Only drawback for was that the needle meter was hard to see in dim light (when the Noctilux really makes sense) so I used my Sekonic Twin-Mate and later sold the M5 (and two other M Leicas) and bought an M7. I find the AE of the M7 very helpful and that combo (M7 + Noctilux 50/1.0) works very well, too.
