Snakepottery Posted February 6, 2010 Share #1 Posted February 6, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Anybody know if one is available? I think the black anodised one would look a little odd on a silver M8. What dio people generally think about them? There's one on the bay at the moment for £50 Andy

Snakepottery Posted February 7, 2010 Author Share #3 Posted February 7, 2010 Sorry, I wrote the original post badly! The one on the bay is black not silver! I was asking if Tim Issacs made one in silver anodised. I guess it wouldn't be too hard to machine it from aluminum as opposed to brass and then anodise it. I think uou can only anodise onto ally? Not sure though. Just a thought. Are you there Tim?!!
D&A Posted February 7, 2010 Share #4 Posted February 7, 2010 Hi, Yes, the CSEP-1 does come in silver, as well as black. On a silver body such as the M8, black looks alright as there is enough black components on the silver body to match the black thumbs-up. The silver looks somewhat better. The silver coating (which may be paint rather than anodizing..although I'm not sure)...is not as smooth (the coating) as the silver on the body it rests against. Either way, a great product (thumbs-up) in my opinion. I'm still hoping Tim will consideer a "hot" shoe model so a single contact flash can fit and work right on top of it. Snakepottery Posted February 7, 2010 Author Share #5 Posted February 7, 2010 Thanks for that Dave. Robert White here in the UK don't mention it so I may have to get one direct. Although the deciding factor will be money as ever! There is a black CS1 on Ebay so assuming it doesn't get silly price wise I may go for that as you say it won't look too bad on a silver M8 Thanks Andy

john_newell Posted February 8, 2010 Share #8 Posted February 8, 2010 I had a black one and sold it to buy a silver one (see the picture on the Match Technical website). Some folks like the panda look, but I was happy to get a silver one (direct from the manufacturer, which was the only way to do so at the time - don't know if that has changed). However, the pictures come out of the camera looking the same either way!

I ordered a silver Thumbs Up and it's quite obviously painted brass.. it matches the color quite closely but the paint will flake off eventually (in fact some flaked off under the hot shoe when i took it out of the box!). One more note - I was able to get a silver thumbs up from PopFlash.
