Stewart Weir Posted February 6, 2010 Author Share #4  Posted February 6, 2010 Love the Barcelona shot -reminds of the famous portrait of Jimmy Hendrix  Thanks for the comments about the Backstreet Barcelona image.. yes he did remind me of Hendrix. It was really very dark and this shot was more luck than anything.  The Leica X1 Files
thomsva Posted February 7, 2010 Share #5 Â Posted February 7, 2010 Nice shots!! Â Stewart, did you use autofocus on the Backstreet Barcelona shot? Which of the autofocus modes do you prefer for quick shots in low light conditions?
Stewart Weir Posted February 8, 2010 Author Share #6  Posted February 8, 2010 Nice shots!! Stewart, did you use autofocus on the Backstreet Barcelona shot? Which of the autofocus modes do you prefer for quick shots in low light conditions?  Yes i did use autofocus.  Mostly im using the spot focus point.. and pre focusing on the area im interested in. When i tripod mount im using manual focus but really rather depends. Im also using mainly the camera's program mode and to a lesser degree either aperture or shutter priority. Mostly also have at least minus 1/3rd exposure compensation using center weighted exposure.  Of course these settings are what ive 'grown into' using and everyone is going to be different.  Stewart Weir  The Leica X1 Files
ziggurat Posted February 8, 2010 Share #7 Â Posted February 8, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello Stewart, Â I'm finding your reviews and pictures very helpful thankyou. Â It took me quite a while with my cameras to find out how they wanted me to use them. With the Dig 3 I had to go through all possible combinations to find a sweet working method. Tickle under the chin and lump of sugar so to speak. Â What I'm wondering with the X1 is what it is like once you have learned to predict the EV (so that you don't have to check every shot), and the you turn the screen off and use the viewfinder. I wonder if it likes this? Â Kind Regards Johnny
damnsharp Posted February 8, 2010 Share #8 Â Posted February 8, 2010 Thank you Stewart for the X1 images, this makes me more convinced it's the right camera for me. But is it possible that you make a few sample images with flash? I am very curious what the reach of the flash is and how for example a fill flash with a portret looks like. Thanks in advance!
