Guest flatfour Posted July 7, 2006 Share #1 Posted July 7, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have a picture 519pixels x 700 pixels at 72 pixel resolution. The image on my monitor is 7" x 5" BUT the image according to the rules is TWICE as large as it should be. If I reduce the pixela either for image size or resolution so that the file is no larger than 241 kb the image is only 3inches by 2 inches. Clearly I am doing something wrong. Could someone please kindly tell me what I have to do to get the image the right sizee. Many thanks.

stunsworth Posted July 7, 2006 Share #2 Posted July 7, 2006 Anthony, ignore the dpi, ignore the size in inches, the only important thing is the number of pixels in each dimension and those are within the required maximum. So, to make sure the file is small enough you need to save it as a Jpeg. This should allow you to specify the Jpeg quality. The lower the quality, the smaller the Jpeg. How you actually get to this stage will depend on the editing software that you are using. Lower the quality until the size is under the maximum allowed in the forum. Save the file and you should be ok to upload it.
