M8 power on problems

I bought an used M8 few months ago, and I've had the occasional hickup (won't recognize memory card until re-inserted, died once in the cold), which have usually passed by doing things again.

Now my M8 refuses to turn on using the power switch. It powers on only after I turn the power switch AND touch the shutter release lightly, then it springs into life and seems to take photos quite normally. Only occasionally does it power on just from the switch.

Any ideas or hints of what this could be a sign of? I already had the camera without battery for the night, switched to a freshly recharged battery and switched the memory card, no change.

I and some others had this problem. It's a faulty power switch and should be fixed by Leica. You'll have to see what they will do for you.

I thot it was a nice feature, the having to touch the shutter to complete the power on cycle, but was told by several monsters here to get it fixed before the switch quit altogether.
