ddanois Posted February 3, 2010 Share #1 Posted February 3, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Well, this is very disappointing! Tried an S2 today and shot a little over 100 frames and around frame 105 this red band started showing up. Not sure but looks like a major sensor issue. This platform has lots of potential but given the time it's taken to bring this to market, this just shouldn't happen.
Advertisement Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 Hi ddanois, Take a look here S2 files showing red band. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
ddanois Posted February 3, 2010 Author Share #2 Posted February 3, 2010 Maybe not... Just did a fresh import from the CF card into Aperture and there is no band. RAW software issue I guess.
dfarkas Posted February 3, 2010 Share #3 Posted February 3, 2010 Did you use Aperture the first time as well? Did the band show up on the camera's LCD or in another application like Lightroom? Certainly seems odd, and is an artifact I have not seen in any of my testing. I also have never tried to bring S2 files into LR (only CS4, LR, and C1) David
ddanois Posted February 3, 2010 Author Share #4 Posted February 3, 2010 Hi David, First import was from the CF card into Lightroom 2.6. Red band was resent in about 5 shots out of 45. Opened Capture One and navigated to the folder that LR imported the files into and the band was present as well. Closed all applications and inserted CF card once again and imported files into Aperture. Band was not present in any of the files. Very strange given that LR should work well since it's the recommended RAW processor, right?
jonoslack Posted February 3, 2010 Share #5 Posted February 3, 2010 Very strange given that LR should work well since it's the recommended RAW processor, right? What happens if you try re-importing to LR from the CF card - maybe they were damaged in the transfer? Same for C1
dfarkas Posted February 3, 2010 Share #6 Posted February 3, 2010 What happens if you try re-importing to LR from the CF card - maybe they were damaged in the transfer? Same for C1 Agreed. I would try to re-import directly from the CF card again. I've never seen this before. David
Guest guy_mancuso Posted February 3, 2010 Share #7 Posted February 3, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) This could very well be the card reader folks . I have seen this several time as the card reader is corrupting the files on import. Try another one if you have it and don't rule out the card itself. Does not sound like camera or software to be honest.
gogopix Posted February 4, 2010 Share #8 Posted February 4, 2010 Guy ir right; there have been examples like this due to three things the CF card; writing badly due to synch on the camera the reader, missing proper edge data sensor readout; again timing at the edge. RARELY the 3rd but that can be 'motherboard time. Two bucks says its the card! Victor
