microview Posted February 3, 2010 Share #21 Posted February 3, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) If your on Windows check Undelete Software for Windows - WinUndelete It's saved my life more times than I care to remember... You'll be astounded how many files are still sitting there... Macs don't cooperate in that way! Bought photo recovery download and saved some very old stuff, but none of the recent pics: mostly Camden Lock, which is only a walk away so nothing of real value. Taught me a lesson of course...... all now on external hard drive! Thanks for commiserations.
Advertisement Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 Hi microview, Take a look here Adobe Lightroom and/or Adobe lazyness?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
LuxBob Posted February 3, 2010 Share #22 Posted February 3, 2010 Aperture is a great product; excellent organization and retrieval and first class tools. It needs an update though, in the opinion of many, including me. At this point I have to be astounded at Job's comment, in whatever context it was made. Apple treat Aperture like all its consumer market products,; secrecy and no information on future releases and what might be in them. This is irritating to a lot of photographers who have businesses to run and a living to make. Many seem to have jumped ship to LR although there are no numbers to support this. At various industry events or Apple announcements over the past year it was hoped by many that a new release would be announced. The next one is PMA 21 Feb, we shall see. I am hanging on as long as possible but to understate my view I would say that Apple shows an arrogant disregard to its loyal customers.
rob_w Posted February 3, 2010 Share #23 Posted February 3, 2010 Macs don't cooperate in that way! If you are on a Mac consider using Time Machine -- which will automatically backup and will keep copies of files after they have been deleted from your main drive. As with everything on this forum there are different points of view regarding products/approaches that might be even better than Time Machine -- but it's certainly more robust than Windows undelete software. ptarmigan Posted February 5, 2010 Share #24 Posted February 5, 2010 I've been using Aperture and PS CSx for years. Only recently I have briefly trialled LR2 and now am using LR3 Beta. I'm pretty impressed. Having conversed regularly with Adobe peeps during my LR3 Beta eval, I think they are really listening and LR3 when it is released will be a killer. I've stopped using Aperture altogether now. So in short it gets my thumbs up.
