davyluvzizgravy Posted January 29, 2010 Share #1 Â Posted January 29, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi all, Does anyone have an alternative to using a big, cumbersome, heavy hot press to fix a pint to mounting board ???? I would love to know as I have just begun to mount my own B&W prints. David.

Jeff S Posted January 29, 2010 Share #2 Â Posted January 29, 2010 Linen tape works fine if you plan to place a window mat on top for framing. Â Jeff
kenneth Posted January 29, 2010 Share #3 Â Posted January 29, 2010 I used to work for Ademco Ltd over 30 years ago and in those days 3M used to produce a adhesive dot system where you peeled off a silicone release paper from the paper holding the dots. You then applied that to the back of your photograph and this left dots on the back of your photograph. Then you simply turned it over and applied it to the mount board. Â Another alternative is good old Cow Gum which has been re-invented and is now called Studio Gum. Â Regarding Dry Mounting presses. Ademco Ltd made 2 versions in various sizes. One was a soft bed press and the other, which was much more cumbersome was a hard bed press. Unless you wish to heat seal you work a soft bed press is perfectly adequate for your needs and it sounds from what you are saying that you have a hard bed press which is very bulky and not necessary. TomM Posted January 29, 2010 Share #4 Â Posted January 29, 2010 I use cold mount pressure sensitive mounting adhesive produced by CODA Inc. They recommend a small press to apply pressure but for prints of up to 16" x 24" I find that I can use a hand roller very successfully. The sheets come in various sizes and it is a very simple procedure which works very well. Â Tom
