wasatch007 Posted January 26, 2010 Share #1 Posted January 26, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) OK, a confession. I have owned a M8 for more than a year. I love the camera. I have learned to manage the rangefinder system. I have shot photos from Vietnam to Washington, DC. From Israel to Mexico. It has been a terrific experience. OK, back to the confession. In all the time that I have used the camera I have never updated the firmware. I leave to go back to Vietnam in a couple weeks. I want to make sure the camera is ready to go and my lack of upgrading concerns me. SO . . . . What upgrades would you recommend for the firmware? Are all of them necessary and important? What would you advise?

carbon_dragon Posted January 26, 2010 Share #4 Posted January 26, 2010 But follow the directions on the Leica site carefully. I did it from my Macintosh and that worked fine, but read the directions in the separate file download and do just what it says. You don't want to end up with a paperweight. In particular make sure your battery is fully charged so you don't run out of juice while the camera is updating. I just bought a used M8 and with some trepidation did the update. Everything worked fine and it's safely up to 2.004.
