MacSpikes Posted January 25, 2010 Share #1 Posted January 25, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) In a week I am off to Munich (München, Bavaria) for a long weekend. Can anyone recommend a Leica or Voigtländer store with a large collection of lenses and accessories? We are staying in the city centre.
Advertisement Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 Hi MacSpikes, Take a look here Which Leica store in Munich?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
thegrantgreen Posted January 25, 2010 Share #2 Posted January 25, 2010 the official leica partner behind the marienplatz sucks ass and the other photo-stores aren't much better. they never have anything interesting. especially they don't have any kind of a large collection of lenses. the only store that sometimes - but you really really have to be lucky - has sometimes a few good old m & m39 lenses is the "photo sauter" next to the sendlinger-tor. i'm afraid you should have chosen berlin. it would have been more interesting in a photographic way and they have much more good leica stores over there!! i'm sorry dude if i disappoint you now. but i have to tell you that germany sucks ass - except of leica, beer, berlin & probably the ruhrgebiet. but i still hope you will have a nice vacation here. you can do some street north of the marienplatz and around the university. i like the area around the "fünf höfe".lot of cheesy guys are out there. i like making a fool of them sometimes. so try and do your best! cheers, mat p.s. get yourself some warm clothes! it's freezy down here. el.nino Posted January 25, 2010 Share #3 Posted January 25, 2010 Try this one: Foto Nürbauer GmbH...Fachgeschäft für Spiegelreflex, Objektive, Digitale Fotoapparate und Video Kameras, Kompakt- Kameras und Dia Projektoren, Zubehör,... It's not too bad. Has some special-edition-stuff (e.g. black paint lenses etc.). and there ist foto dinkel as well (Foto Dinkel - Fotogroßhandel München). they got the s-system (tried it there last week) and (not much - only some new lenses) m-system stuff (zeiss ikon as well). smullink Posted January 27, 2010 Share #4 Posted January 27, 2010 What are the best places in Berlin, as I may ask. I am back in Berlin next May this year. Last time I looked at Meister but they were closed the day I looked. (Bad luck)

thrid Posted January 27, 2010 Share #6 Posted January 27, 2010 What are the best places in Berlin, as I may ask. I am back in Berlin next May this year. Last time I looked at Meister but they were closed the day I looked. (Bad luck) Meister is a nice store with lots and lots of goodies, but be prepared for the usual snobby treatment; especially if you don't pull out a huge wad of cash and buy an M9 or S2 within minutes of entering. In other words be prepared for the friendly smile and welcome to evaporate in an instant the moment they realize you're not buying. Wuestefeld is much more of a photographers store, although they are no longer official Leica dealers. But they do sell used Leica gear and are quite friendly. Even if you are just looking. If you need film visit Photoimpex, just past the Alexander Platz. Great store and the best prices on film in Berlin. They also have all the chemicals you may need. In Munich you can try Sauter near the Sendlinger Tor. Big store with a very large selection of used camera gear. A nice spread of Leica stuff at surprisingly good prices. The staff is reasonably friendly and quite knowledgeable. There is an official Leica dealer in Munich called Foto Reiter. If you are standing in the Marienplatz and looking at the Rathaus, walk around the building / block. They are on the opposite side of the townhall (Rathaus). Selection is ok, prices are list and their used gear is clean, but not exactly cheap. Service isn't as snobby as Meister in Berlin, but depending on what mood they are in that day the smiles can disappear pretty quickly if they don't smell $$$. I've also visited Foto Nürbauer GmbH and they seemed pretty down to earth. A good selection of new and used Leica gear at fair prices.
