Any body still making up solutions for processing using actual chemicals? Having a clear out and just discovered my set of balances by Johnsons of Hendon. Do they have a value I don't really want to take to charity shop if we can find a good home for a keen person guess would need to be UK Anybody remember them.

Yes, I have been making up my own solutions for many years using raw chemicals.

particularly for E6 and C41 processes. The problem now is getting the colour

developers (CD3 and CD4) in the small quantities required. The last 25gm of

CD4 that I got must have been in stock for a long time as it had deteriorated

in the bottle, so I made a decision to cease C41 processing, and I went digital

(M8). I still process E6 but when my stock of AGFACHROME 50 ASA runs out I will

make a decision on that. I posted my method of overcoming the temperature control

recently on this forum. It is amazing what one can get away with in home processing

I use any rapid fixer-hardner, white vinegar (diluted 1 to 10) as a one shot stop bath,

and dishwasher rinse aid (5 or 6 drops per Lt.) as a final rinse.

Regretfully I think home processing is a dying art, in spite of the fact that the

quality of commercial processing has recently become a bit hit and miss, due to

lack of through put, unless you move to the professional labs.

I probably will not get rid of my equipment as I am a bit of a Magpie, but you might

get some takers on e-bay, there are photographic students out there that may want

to explore the processing capabilities of home processing. I got great satisfaction

and pleasure from doing it myself.

Doug.

I would love to have them if you are looking for a good home for them and yes. Home processing B&W is the only type of photography I do. Is there another way?

Whoops sorry Andy. But I am not realy selling them more like giving them away.

Rob It would seem as though any form of exchange choose how altruistic is frowned upon on this forum. I had the similar response when I offered a roll of Kodachrome to a Japanese gentleman who had never experienced the delights of that iconic film.

I sent it to him any way and he was very grateful.
