I was fidling about with the nob (skrew) to adjust the second shutter curtain on my old M3. I find that the adjustment of the shutter curtain made an impact on the shutter speed on the one, and the half second exposure. Before adjustment, my one second was more like one and a half. I adjusted the shutter curtain and got the one second exposure time set to precise one second. The half second exposure seems right too.

But this cant be the right way to adjust the one second exposure time?

Shutter curtain spring tensions are best left alone. Incorrect exposure is usually the result of dirty mechanism and bearings. The slow speeds can only be adjusted by dismantling the top housing..,that is after cleaning and lubricating the escapement.
