novice9 Posted January 24, 2010 Share #1 Posted January 24, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am looking for a case that has a strong waste strap. Seems that most cases that are discussed on this forum have shoulder straps exclusively?? Personally, I find it much more comfortable to have my kit strapped to my waste than hanging off my shoulder when I go for long periods walking and shooting. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks.

lars_bergquist Posted January 24, 2010 Share #2 Posted January 24, 2010 A case with a waist strap would be a fanny-pack, wouldn't it? Not a bad idea, in fact. The old man from the Age of the Eveready Case
noah_addis Posted January 24, 2010 Share #3 Posted January 24, 2010 Some of the smaller Domkes, like the F5XA and F5XB (which is now my main bag), are designed to be used on a belt. You need to buy the belt separately or, of course, you can use your own.
novice9 Posted January 25, 2010 Author Share #4 Posted January 25, 2010 yes, i think that might make it a fanny pack, though i think i like the sound of camera bag with waste strep better.
LMBSGV Posted January 25, 2010 Share #5 Posted January 25, 2010 I use this Lowepro. It fits an M7 with 35 Summicron along with 90 Elmarit M, and 50 Summircron. I take it hiking and backpacking. Nothing fancy, but it works great. Lowepro - Photo Runner
lars_bergquist Posted January 25, 2010 Share #6 Posted January 25, 2010 Lots of weight on a narrow waist belt gets uncomfortable pretty fast. You must use a wide and preferably padded carrying belt that distributes the weight well over your hips, if any. I'd say go to a medium fanny pack. The old man from the Age of the Eveready Case Btw yesterday I went to an official occasion with a M9 and a 35mm Summilux ASPH in a Luigi Crescenzi full case. Definitely in style, and worked well. Try it! The same incorrigible old man ...
tdtaylor Posted January 25, 2010 Share #7 Posted January 25, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have used the Thinktank waistpack for several years. You can switch between shoulder and waist, or use both. I have mid size one for my Nikon gear, and it will hold a fair amount. The smallest might work for a Leica kit. They are very well made. http://www.thinktankphoto.com/categories/camera-beltpacks.aspx
