albada60 Posted January 23, 2010 Share #1 Posted January 23, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) When using my 90mm Summicron-M lens head for reflex viewing after screwing it to my focusing mount (16462) then either attaching to Visoflex/Leicaflex (14127) I'm only get focus to a maximum of approximately 15 feet/5 meters. I can see the bayonet on my 16462 has been been taken off at some stage and I don't know what might have been done. On first use the focus was catching but at the moment it is smooth and seems to go down full travel. The lens head of course is screwed fully in. I can't work this one out and would be appreciative if any of you guys could help. Sheridan Zantis

Xmas Posted January 23, 2010 Share #2 Posted January 23, 2010 Hi This wold be expected if the cron is black but the focusing mount is chrome, the type I and type II (silver and black respectively)9cm f/2 crons don't have the same visoflex register, but are otherwise compatible I think they made more chrome visoflex adapters, is the bad news. And I dont think they published this change, at he time. noel
albada60 Posted January 23, 2010 Author Share #3 Posted January 23, 2010 Thanks for your answer Noel, I just checked on a 1973 Leica catalogue. It shows a 90mm Summicron for Visoflex use (with black 16462) like mine. Leica also were selling a long mount with bayonet changer* for the conversion of this lens in short mount for rangefinder-coupled-use. This long mount is asterisked * please return lens to the factory. This explains the out of registration in focus between my long mount lens head and the lens head as catalogued in short mount. Xmas Posted January 23, 2010 Share #4 Posted January 23, 2010 Hi The rules was if you are starting with a cron with visoflex focusing mount and you wanted to instead use the lens rangefinder focused, then you needed to send it back as the rangefinder coupling was matched to the lens focal length exactly. The 73 manuals/documentation admitted to this indirectly. In the other direction any visoflex mount should have worked ok i.e.got to infinity ok. except that they changed the registration of the visoflex mount to lens head from early cron to late cron. They kept quite about this/ The late cron lens head in an early visoflex focusing mount would not get to infinity. Noel
