The menu on the M9 gives a choice of codes for the Leica 50mm f1.0 and f1.2 lenses.
Advertisement Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 Hi jlancasterd, Take a look here Coding for Nokton 50mm f1.1. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Mark Pope Posted January 23, 2010 Share #2 Posted January 23, 2010 John, I've coded mine as the f1.0 Noctilux for use on my M8. I'm not sure whether I recall seeing a separate code for the 1.2 version. Regards Mark.
jlancasterd Posted January 23, 2010 Author Share #3 Posted January 23, 2010 Thanks Mark - that's useful to know. Th M9 differs from the M8 in having a lens detection list, accessible via the MENU button, in which the Noctilux f1 and f1.2 are listed separately, so the coding may be different - although I've never seen a code for the f1.2. alexg2 Posted January 24, 2010 Share #4 Posted January 24, 2010 I've never seen a code for the f1.2. Yes, the 1.2 is in the M9 manual setup list.
carbonadam Posted January 24, 2010 Share #5 Posted January 24, 2010 it is very easy to code as a Noctilux. I did mine with a sharpie by hand. Just a black line in the right spot is all you need. Leica M Lens Codes
Ecar Posted January 25, 2010 Share #6 Posted January 25, 2010 I coded it as a Noctilux f/1.0. Works well for the M8 but haven't used this lens on the M9 yet. I wonder whether it may be worth experimenting with the Nocti f/0.95 code.
jlancasterd Posted February 6, 2010 Author Share #7 Posted February 6, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I bought a Nocton f1.1 just before going on holiday to Italy, and I used the coding for the f1.0 Noctilux... Love locks on the Ponte Vecchio - M9, f1.0 at 1/4000, ISO 160.
@bumac Posted February 8, 2010 Share #8 Posted February 8, 2010 I use it without any coding. Works perfectly.
frank_dernie Posted February 8, 2010 Share #9 Posted February 8, 2010 What coding are people using for the Nokton 50mm f1.1? The menu on the M9 gives a choice of codes for the Leica 50mm f1.0 and f1.2 lenses. I would experiment with several codings, not only for 50mm lenses, including none (which often works fine IME) On the M9 it is the position of the lens exit pupil which effects the colour shift which needs correcting, not the angle of view, as it is on the M8. I have no idea where the exit pupil is on the 50mm f1.1, but it could be nowhere near either Noctilux leading to neither of these being much use... Of course if you find a setting which corrects the colour fine and is near enough on the vignetting (it is pretty well impossible to imagine that both will be identical to one of the Leica lenses) it may well result in a strange value for "lens" appearing in the exif data. I really think these independent lens makers should get their fingers out and provide lightroom profiles for their lenses on a M9. Frank
