Advertisement Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 Hi h00ligan, Take a look here Response to Concerns Re the Dials. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
barjohn Posted January 22, 2010 Share #22 Posted January 22, 2010 Firmware is just software that is loaded into a ROM so the distinction is more in use than in fact. Secondly, if you were Leica and there were published reviews that criticized certain aspects of your product and you had delayed shipping it to fix those flaws wouldn't you want to say so? It would show that you listen to the market and are responsive to make things right before you put the product in customer hands. I would see this as even more critical after the M8 fiasco of knowing of the IR problem but sitting silent until a customer identified it publicly. Reviewers were publicly silent but informed Leica thinking Leica would fix the issues before releasing the camera.
h00ligan Posted January 22, 2010 Share #23 Posted January 22, 2010 Good point. My assertions were never with 'why' they would or 'if' they would, simply that it 'could' be the case - as I've seen it done. Your points are valid though, they probably would advertise it as a remedy.
