wda Posted January 16, 2010 Share #1 Posted January 16, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have followed Martin Evening's LR book prose on the title subject to export part of my main catalogue for use on a new computer. Despite varying the export options I get a message stating that LR is unable to export the catalogue. No reasons given. I have changed destination drives; still no success. Evening doesn't list any warnings regarding failure. Has anyone successfully done this?

proenca Posted January 22, 2010 Share #3 Posted January 22, 2010 David, You can have a couple of problems. Unfortunatly Lightroom, when outputs that error it doesnt say much and can be coulpe of things : ** Original Catalog might be corrupt - restart and click to optimize and rebuild the Catalog ** Can be happening the usual XMP conflict, go to : "Catalog Settings" / "Metadata" and UNCHECK "Automatically write changes into XMP". Go to the "General" tab in Catalog Settings and clicked on "Relaunch and Optimize". Is a bug in Lightroom 2.5 where it updates the XMP data conflicting with "export as catalog". ** Preference file is corrupt ( most common ) Close Lightroom. Windows XP - Documents and Settings/[username]/ApplicationData/Adobe/Lightroom/Preferences/Lightroom Preferences.agprefs Windows Vista - Users/[username]/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Lightroom/Preferences/Lightroom Preferences.agprefs Mac OS X - [username]/Library/Preferences/com.adobe.Lightroom.plist These may be hidden folders(see note) on some systems, which you may need to show (or type the folder path into the address bar). You can move or rename that preferences file, rather than deleting, if you think you may wish to put it back. Hope it helps, let it know how it worked out
