jsjxyz Posted January 15, 2010 Share #1 Posted January 15, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) My M8 had vertical line problem and started to be noticeable just few months before the warranty out. Then after the warranty was out, the problem became very noticeable, Sent it to Solms with proof that when the problem started just before the warranty was over, after 2 months they send me back the M8 without any charge today. Leica is a peace of mind. Thank You Jerry

mmk60 Posted January 15, 2010 Share #2 Posted January 15, 2010 WOW! Thanks for sharing your experience with Solms. I had the same problem but Leica USA refused to fix my camera under warranty although I sent them sample images that had been taken before my warranty expired. I might get lucky with Solms.. jlindstrom Posted January 16, 2010 Share #4 Posted January 16, 2010 Notice location.. I suspect shipping times to and from Jakarta play a huge role in the time factor. I had the exact same experience with the same problem last december. Only since I live in northern europe, I got mine back in 3 weeks. And the camera was shipped by a Leica dealer and back to the same Leica dealer which accounts for couple of days delay in best scenario. I'd say around 2 week turnaround for a ccd problem + full cla including rangefinder adjustment + 1 year Leica warranty for the whole camera _for free_ is definately something I appreciate. This kind of service is why we love Leica (along the actual photographic tools merits)!
darkspark Posted January 24, 2010 Share #5 Posted January 24, 2010 WOW! Thanks for sharing your experience with Solms. I had the same problem but Leica USA refused to fix my camera under warranty although I sent them sample images that had been taken before my warranty expired. I might get lucky with Solms.. Same here, Leica USA doesn't seem to want to fix mine either. I contacted them and got transferred from manager to manager... None seemed to recognized the issue and are baffled by the image samples I sent... and are very slow at getting back to me (it's been a few months waiting) and the responds I got are very unclear about what to do. Leaving bad taste in my mouth... I don't think I want to do business with Leica USA again after this...
Olsen Posted January 24, 2010 Share #6 Posted January 24, 2010 I am very satisfied with Leica service. Far better than Canon. Canon don't have a service workshop here in Norway anymore. It is outsourced to an independent company. So, if it is outside of the warranty period; don't expect a simple and cheap solution. not so with Leica. I bought a M8 in Singapore. Got the Red Line Problem. I sent it to Solms via the Norwegian importer/dealer Interfoto. Got it back, fixed and to no cost. I also bought a 35 mm 2,0 - 2.hand, that did not focus correctly. Even that was fixed for free. Free! Interfoto tells me that Leica 'prefers' to do all service themselves. Jerry, you are aware of that one of your (Indonesian) ex presidents is a Leica fan?
