Everytime I download shots to my desktop iPhoto automatically starts up.

As I almost never use it, this is an annoying waste of time.

Is there any way to stop this short of erasing the whole iPod program?

Thanks,

Mitchell

Launch Image Capture, choose Preferences from the Image Capture menu, choose No Application from the "When a camera is connected, open:" drop down, click OK button.

Hope this helps

Assuming you mean iPhoto not iPod, no you don't have to do that. Open instead Image Capture in your Applications folder, and go to its Preferences. Select from the pop-up menu 'When a camera is connected, open:' the option 'No Application.' Problem solved.

Edit: I see Roey was quicker on the draw!
