matlep Posted January 15, 2010 Share #21 Posted January 15, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I thought so too, but according to importers Verkkokauppa.com is now the leader... Well. They are not litsted on Leica dealer site, whilst Rajala is a Leica Premier Dealer. I would put my money at Rajala.
Advertisement Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 Hi matlep, Take a look here M9 availability, laughable in Finland. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
matlep Posted January 15, 2010 Share #22 Posted January 15, 2010 Ian, there was a post removed, probably by moderators... I haven't ordered one, that's true, today I contacted "Rajala" and they can't even give me a delivery estimate, even though it says 3-6 weeks on their homepage... I think it's wrong advertising 3-6 weeks when the reality is probably closer to 3-6 months. This verkkokauppa.com store usually keeps a big stock of things, so do Rajala. High-end stuff is available off the shelf. Once there's M9's available both stores will most likely keep M9's in stock all the time, just as they did and still do with the M8. Thus my conclusion that there is none available for the finnish market, "to just walk in and buy". Is this possible elsewhere? Currently there is no such thing in the world as a walk in buy of a M9. Its seen twice in the delivery thread of about 400 reported deliverys. So this is not a isolated problem in Finland. It is a world wide problem. I just hope the wait won't be as long as with the M8, then the rest of the world first got theirs, then it was our turn.
Logic108 Posted January 16, 2010 Share #24 Posted January 16, 2010 Just to say I bought my M8.2 from Rajala. I think they are about the only 'real' camera dealers in the Uusimaa area. Anyway I have never had a problem with them and I think they will have the first M9's in probably end of February. For myself I am looking at Vappu before they become available without pre-order. But I would suggest putting a pre-order with them if you want to buy from Finland. Otherwise use a reputable company in the U.K like Red Dot etc. Obviously if you are an Oy then you have ALV exemption when buying from within Europe. On the plus side I have the M8.2 and could shoot as much as I want and don't need to get frustrated waiting for the M9, however on the minus side I broke my ankle and can't get out to do any shooting. michael_b_elmer Posted January 16, 2010 Share #25 Posted January 16, 2010 You don't have to wait for the M9 to reach all outer parts of Europe. I live in Denmark and have long ago got used to buying Leica abroad, especially by Meister-Camera in Hamburg, where you get excellent service and where you can have your cameras etc. sold within reasonable time. In your shoes I would call Meister Camera in Hamburg and ask Martin or Ralph if Meister Camera could not solve the problem much easier.
Epimetheus Posted January 17, 2010 Share #26 Posted January 17, 2010 That's kind of marginal problem you have. Most people here in Finland would just order from Leicashop or any other place, but most people don't have their own company though. I buy and sell a lot of gear and have found that the small market is a benefit because a lot of great film gear can be found at low prices. All new stuff can be ordered from anywhere in the world with much better prices so local supply is meaningless.
Epimetheus Posted January 20, 2010 Share #27 Posted January 20, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I received a call yesterday morning from Rajala that they now have black M9 if I'm still interested. So they are now available in Finland at least if you ordered one or put your name to a waiting list like I did.
