Alice MacRae Posted January 14, 2010 Share #1 Posted January 14, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Last September 2009, I sent my 35/2 cron to Leica NJ for a major repair. They gave me an estimate of $300 for repair of diaphragm or aperture ring; repair of focusing mount; clean optics as well as possible; repair and adjust focus; clean, lubricate, adjust all functions. I gave it a go and I was expecting to get it back after 4-6 weeks based on their promise. Weeks passed the bokeh king didn't arrive. I called New Jersey on the first week of November and I was told there was going to be a delay because they were still waiting for a part from Germany to complete the repair. Customer service was apologetic and said I would get it on the last week of January 2010 for sure. Yesterday, January 12, a package from UPS came--the king is back! I was so happy, it was my birthday yesterday. A very nice present indeed!

lars_bergquist Posted January 14, 2010 Share #2 Posted January 14, 2010 Was that a v.4 ("pre-asph.") 'cron? In that case, read my comments in the post here, "35 Summilux ASPH - did it replace your Cron?" And see the picture. That is a great lens, and deserves to be used, and cared for. lars_bergquist Posted January 15, 2010 Share #3 Posted January 15, 2010 Alice, I see you're from Vancouver. Do you possibly know Tom Abrahamson? We are compatriots -- I grew up in the same town as he, but some years earlier, so I don't remember him from that time. But Vancouver seems to be an attractive place to Swedes. Alice MacRae Posted January 16, 2010 Author Share #4 Posted January 16, 2010 Sorry Lars, I know the famous Tom A. lives in Vancouver but I haven't had the honour of his acquaintance. Maybe some of the Vancouverites here in this forum know him. Yes, Vancouver is very attractive to Swedes, perhaps because of the climate and the snow capped mountains. Vancouver is the largest Swedish city in Canada. We love our Swedes especially the twins--Henrik and Daniel Sedin.
lars_bergquist Posted January 16, 2010 Share #5 Posted January 16, 2010 Yes Alice, Vancouver is a fairly big place, and my question is not much different from "so you're from Sweden, so you must know Lennart Nilsson -- the inside photographer?" Very long odds. I was just making a friendly noise. BTW I have actually met L.N. a few times, but I can't say I know him -- he's in a very different league.
