Where do you buy inks, paper and art supplies?

I am a bit lost regarding material and try to slim down costs for supplies.

I look for ideally one place, which carries:

- Canon pigment inks (Pixma 9500)

- paper up to A3+ (semi gloss, matte, fine arts - major paper companies)

- ready made frame solutions up to A3+

- clear archival sleeves for prints up to A3+

- durable shipping packaging for sleeved prints up to A3+

I am situated in China at the moment any place worldwide would be of interest.

China and Hong Kong are preferred though for shipping cost reasons.

I go to an excellent shop in Germany who supply almost everything that you need. They are also on-line boesner - Professionelle Künstlermaterialien

I am guessing that you speak German. The shop that I go to supplies the French Canson papers but I also buy another German paper, Tecco locally tecco - living paper

I find that their Photo Luster PL285 is superb.

I get inks for my HP 9180 from Druckerpatrone - Tintenpatrone - Toner - Tinte - Druckertinte - Druckerpatronen - Tintenpatronen. Can't say that I am completely happy with them but finding a relaiable supplier of these HP inks is not easy.

Hello.

I'd also be interested in an online shop in Europe who would sell inks (epson) and papers and would ship them to Europe - I live in Finland.

Thanks in advance.

Best regards, Jyrki

Jyrki, try B&H...in US but ship everywhere as far as I know...B&H Photo Video | Digital Cameras, Camcorders

Prices and service generally top rate.

Shipping and taxes to Europe from the US just doesn't make sense for small plastic cartridges of ink. It's just insanity.

For just inks, probably so (9 cartridges for price of just under 10, when shipping included to Finland). But, he also mentioned papers. If, for instance, he got 4 boxes of Hahnemuhle (50 sheets each) plus 9 ink cartridges, I think the shipping would be less than if he just bought the papers alone, due to the B&H pricing structure.

Might be best to shop Europe or elsewhere, but easy to check B&H online cost calculator to determine if this makes any sense. Always best to buy in bulk, and combine purchases to minimize shipping.

Hello Jeff and thanks again for the reply!

Even with the shipping costs it would be a good idea to order from the US because of the exchance rate of the dollar, BUT... if the goods get stucked to the customs (and they usually do), you must also pay 3,7% customs fee + 22% VAT and in that case it doesn't make any sense financially...

I think UK would be the best option because of the weak Sterling pound and because there is no additional VAT or customs fee within the EU.

I don't know about shipping costs from the US, but I have been using ITSupplies in Chicago. I bought my HP Z3100 there, and paper and inks since.

IT Supplies - Your discount digital source for Epson, HP, and Canon printers, ink, toner and more!

I often buy from B & H and like them, but ITSupplies and folks like them are specialists, they understand large printing and carry papers that generalists might not. They are also very price competitive.

Regards ... Harold

I've used them as well.

Other competitive places for papers, etc. include:

Epson HP Canon Printer Inkjet Photo Papers Ink Cartridges ATLEX.COM

Shades of Paper

And, a place I discovered today (had one of the only remaining discontinued Epson 4880 printer stands in country)...Epson Stylus Pro 4000, 4800, 7600, 7800, 9600, 9800, 10600 - Professional Marketing Services, Inc. I didn't buy my printer there, but they said that if I had, there would have been no shipping costs (many places charge $150 for shipping this printer).
