holmes Posted January 11, 2010 Share #1 Posted January 11, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) OK time for a little pat on the back. Received from my stock photo agency an invoice for "Professional Services" and a check. The check was quite large as my agent/agency had won in arbitration a case in which one of their largest publisher had been failing to live up to the requirements between my agency and the publisher. Also included was payment for one-time rights for one of my photos. I've had photos published in college, high school and children's books. Also in presentations to various scientific groups. All of this photography is collectively called editorial. This is a very tough field as the number of photos used is not all that great. Second you have the photo editor or publisher. The nice thing is that should any of these textbooks go into a second or more printing, I get a check. The amount is less than the original. One nice thing is your name gets widely circulated.' I've been shooting for years but it's only in the past several years did I sign with an agency.
