For quite a while, I was rather critical of the M9 and disappointed that apparently the "only" material difference to the M8 was the larger and full frame sensor. While I had put my name on a waiting list in September, I was not sure whether I really wanted to forge out 5,500 Euros to "upgrade" from the M8, and I was wondering whether I should not put my name on a list for the M10 instead. Well, when the call from dealer came I said to myself that life is too short not to enjoy a full frame digital rangefinder.

After having used the camera for a couple of weeks, I am glad I got it. Not that the M8 was bad, but the M9 just seems to be more complete. The flaws that several others complained about (high ISO etc.) are no concern to me. I get bigger files to play with than the M8 and I find it easier to nail fast lenses wide open. I think it is a fabulous camera -- just a bit expensive.

...agree, agree, agree....though i have to say that when i got the M9 in Nov and loved it right away i decided to sell my m8.2 (which i had upgraded to last april from the m8)...but a few days ago I took them both out , the 9 with the leica 18mm and the 8 with a cv 75 mm and after looking again at the 8 files i think Bill (another throead) is right that the difference is not so great....the files on the 9 are bigger, have 'rounder' looking details and even more MF IQ quality than the 8 but not enough to warrant getting rid of the 8 so now i think i'll keep both....
