Bo,

Thanks for the tip on HoudahGeo for MAC- finally an simple, easy software to use.

While many seem to scorn geotagging, I have used it for several years on my Nikon in my architectural business. For example, about a month ago, I visited 23 locations for one client in 5 days (and 1,800 miles), taking about 6,000 photos. By the end I didn't know which way was up. All the photos were geotagged, so when I brought them back to the office and handed them off to the staff, they were able to easily figure the location, start analysis of it based on the County, etc. Saved hours and hours of sorting and locating.

In the last month I have been using my M9, and a cheap geotagger and the software above makes it easy to tag- last week two locations took about 10 minutes of my time for 800 photos on my MAC laptop (when I walked away took about another 20 minutes for the machine to complete its work).

Do I use it all the time- no. But I do believe there is a time and place for the technology. Do I want it in my M9- No. With my Nikons, the automatic geotagger (forgot the name) was always in the way, and was very temperamental. This method, while not being automatic, is a minor inconvenience for the reduction in weight and reliability.

Just my 2 cents- on topic.
