steich Posted December 8, 2006 Share #1  Posted December 8, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, the German digicam website "digitalkamera.de" says that some Panasonic DMC-LC1 cameras (aka "Digilux 2") have problems with their sensor chips, similiar to what has happened with the Sony sensors e.g. in Nikon cameras. As digitalkamera.de says, Pana offers to repair the camera. I talked to the customer service in Solms this morning. They said "We´ve read about it early this morning, too. But as we have no further information, we cannot tell if some DL2 have the same problem and what could be the solution if they should have...". Does anybody have more informations? regards Stefan

sdai Posted December 8, 2006 Share #3 Â Posted December 8, 2006 The problem actually affects every manufacturer who sourced a critical part from the same company between October and November in 2005. It's not Sony's problem, it's not Pana's problem ... it's the anonymous third party's problem.
Riley Posted December 8, 2006 Share #4  Posted December 8, 2006 Panasonic sensors are made in house Panasonic warranty conditions are way different to Leicas D2 assuming there is basis to this claim, which seems likely, some how I cant see them doing anything  edit to add: its a dam worrying thing though
bpanther Posted July 9, 2007 Share #5 Â Posted July 9, 2007 HELLO EVBODY.... My Digilux3 bought a few months ago seemed to give me very soft results.... almost off-focus and I took it to the cust.service at Solms and they replaced it for me in a week !!! Absolutely free.... even a new lens. Both different serial nos. They said it was a focusing fault in both. Also my LC1 sensor went kaput after 3 years and on searching on the net I discovered that some models had a sensor defect and that Panasonic Japan was replacing them free for the models bought in Japan. Mine was from Hongkong. They made a fuss at first (a dealer in Tokyo) but finally replaced the sensor in 3 weeks and now its really crisp and much better than before. Maybe because of the Venus Engine lll Just wanted evone to know my experiences with both. Thanks.
