Guest mc_k Posted January 6, 2010 Share #1 Posted January 6, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I was wondering if the Leica SA 21mm f/4 will work on the Epson r-d1 without damage? I did use it on the M8 without incident. The r-d1 manual prohibits the SA 21/4 and SA 21/3.4, and says the lenses "may touch the inner parts of the camera." However, a search of Flickr for the r-d1 shows a number of 21/3.4 users and one 21/4 user. So has anyone actually used the SA 21 f/4 on their r-d1? Thanks in advance for any info. Advertisement Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 Hi Guest mc_k, Take a look here Super Angulon 21/4 + rd1 = ?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
russell Posted January 6, 2010 Share #2 Posted January 6, 2010 I seem to remember trying this. It didn't really work. Whereas on the M8 it kind of works.
Guest mc_k Posted January 6, 2010 Share #3 Posted January 6, 2010 To clarify, I am asking if it hits something when you mount it, or if the shutter drags against the rear, etc. I know it won't meter and will vignette strongly, is that what you meant? Thanks.
russell Posted January 9, 2010 Share #4 Posted January 9, 2010 Don't remember exactly. But I do remember that there was no way it was going to work.

Guest mc_k Posted January 9, 2010 Share #6 Posted January 9, 2010 In use, the 21/4 does not seem to have any clearance problem on the M8. The lens is not on the prohibited list in the M8 instructions, and I could not find any reports of problems.
menos I M6 Posted January 11, 2010 Share #7 Posted January 11, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) There is a happy user of a SA over at the DPR Leica forum - "polarabbit". He has posted a few interesting sets with the SA recently. As he uses the R-D1 and digital M cameras, it might be possible, that he has some insight in the compatibility. I don't know, if the sets, he posted are made with the R-D1 though. Search for "Super Angulon" and "More Colors" and you will find the sets.
