thrice Posted January 5, 2010 Share #1 Posted January 5, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Shot with ZM Biogon 25 Single exposure, processed in Lightroom 3 beta. Two exposures, individually processed in LR3 then blended in PS CS4. And edge crops from each for those interested, a testament to the lens and the sensor:

Ferry Zievinger Posted January 5, 2010 Share #2 Posted January 5, 2010 Excellent colors and effects, can you elaborate on the process applied?
thrice Posted January 5, 2010 Author Share #3 Posted January 5, 2010 A little saturation and contrast adjustment on the first one, and then the same on the bottom one with some manual blending. Oh, and a tiny amount of artificial vignette on the first one.

hoppyman Posted January 5, 2010 Share #5 Posted January 5, 2010 That's a huge WOW, Daniel! Seems like you are getting the hang of that new fangled M9 thingie. I can just imagine these really really large on a gallery wall. Great stuff.
thrice Posted January 5, 2010 Author Share #6 Posted January 5, 2010 Thanks Ferry, Paul and Geoff! One day Geoff, one day I have a lot to print and a lot of marketing to do before I can really try and make money from this and leave the day job heh. Baby steps. The M9 is truly an incredible tool, I never thought my lenses were capable of such resolution.

leicamann Posted January 7, 2010 Share #13 Posted January 7, 2010 Wonderful series..but also I think you found a "magic combo" what a wonderful lens.... a solid performer. I like how you exposed for the foreground..anyhow , if I had a M.. this would be my lens..for sure. Your "digital darkroom" is also top notch Thanks for sharing Cheers, JRM
thrice Posted January 7, 2010 Author Share #14 Posted January 7, 2010 Thankyou to Dave, Tobias, Darth , HP, Wuddy, George and JRM; you are all too kind! I agree it is a winning combination, the 25 biogon represents terrific value and has a lot of that much lauded '3D' effect people attribute to Zeiss lenses. Not to say I wouldn't trade it for a 24 Elmar. Surprisingly a lot of it came down to looks, and I much prefer the look of silver lenses, which Leica don't seem to want to offer in their newer lenses. JRM - you are correct, I do quite a bit in post, but with the first image somehow all that dynamic range was contained in a single shot which is nice for a change. Although, I do always bracket my shots and the M9 has a huge shadow latitude (not so much in the highlights).

Guest Jockele Posted January 7, 2010 Share #16 Posted January 7, 2010 Shot with ZM Biogon 25 Single exposure, processed in Lightroom 3 beta. No. 1 is very goot. I like it.
thrice Posted January 7, 2010 Author Share #17 Posted January 7, 2010 Daniel, amazing pictures. How long was the time of exposure? Hi Enrico, 1/10s on #1, and 1/6s and 1/2s I think for the two shots I composited into the second shot. Thankyou Jockele, I like #1 as well because it's so nice having a single exposure work out for landscape as opposed to having to blend or use graduated ND filters.
