elansprint72 Posted January 2, 2010 Share #2 Posted January 2, 2010 Would look better in colour. And digital. Buy a decent, modern chimera.

elansprint72 Posted January 2, 2010 Share #4 Posted January 2, 2010 Before anyone berates me for my "open and honest critique" above, I was with the Gentleman when he took this timeless shot with one of his collection of olde worlde cameras, and I was only pulling his leg. Guest suilvenman Posted January 6, 2010 Share #6 Posted January 6, 2010 This is a great photograph, Keith. As Pete suggests, the photo could have been taken yesterday or fifty years ago thanks to the selective choice of background detail. The very careful composition with those cropped ropes emphasise power and immensity of the vessel. I particularly like the rivet detailing and the light reflection on the upper bow. Ken. dkCambridgeshire Posted January 6, 2010 Share #7 Posted January 6, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) One of the criteria I use to judge a photograph is, 'Could I live with this on my wall?' I have to say, 'No, I could not!' ... pictorially it is rather boring and just a rather plain image of the bow of a boat and has no real dynamism about it. An image of the whole lightship would be far more interesting. And I've seen many very much more 'dynamic' photographs of moored vessels particularly those taken with wider angle lenses. dunk
