Yes mine fits snugly too, can't imagine it falling off.

Hope you enjoy using your viewfinder, I find it challenging and rewarding to shoot with a single focal length and am on 24mm 90% of the time. Takes me back a bit to my first proper camera many moons ago, a Praktica L2 with a Zeiss 35mm f2.8 lens shooting FP4 - The D-lux has injected a new enthusiasm into my photography. Currently started working on a long term documentary project in the Rhondda Valley in Wales all shot in monochrome on 1:1 format - love that 2.2 upgrade.

Another vote for the Hoodman loupe. IMO the external viewfinders are a waste of time, not very accurate and too expensive even for the Panasonic version. With the Hoodman strapped on with optional cord kit or hanging at your chest you can freely see with one eye while simultaneously looking through the viewfinder, similar to the rangefinder style. I like it a lot.

Had an older version (the plastic one) Leica 24mm finder I thought I could get by with on the D-LUX 4; big, not so bright, built quality?, can not just pop the flash up as it blocks it.

So bought the Panasonic LX-3 finder; matches the finder 24mm (more like 25mm) on the D-LUX 4 much better, well built metal construction, bright, round design looks cool on the compact Leica, no problem popping the flash up for quick fill-in or flash photography. AND its (not cheap but) less expensive than the new Leica 24mm finder.

I have the Leica brand VF. It was tough to pay the price but I do like it. The outside frame line is for 24mm and the inside frame line is for 35mm. Once you use the zoom a few times and test where you need to be on the zoom scale for framing the 35mm area, it becomes quite easy. There is a green light on the black LCD that you can see peripherally to know that you have attained focus confirmation. You can make all adjustments on the lcd before shooting just by touching any button and the LCD will come alive to allow settings. When you stop pushing buttons the LCD will go black again. You can see the histogram anytime you want just by touching any button. The VF is bright obviously and allows for accurate framing in bright sun, and night shots. I have not had a problem with it falling off the camera. If I did, I would just do a little quick fix in some manner or another. So, all in all, if you can get by the price, it's good.

I too use one. Is it worth the money? - debatable (in my view).

Two problems with it - a loose fit - more than once have I seen it bounce down the road when getting the camera out in a hurry. You'll see that others here have come up with a variety of fixes to keep it securely on the camera.

The second is more to do with my ignorance prior to purchase - the frame lines only correspond to the 4:3 aspect ratio. So I need to make allowances when shooting at 3:2 or 16:9. I first noticed that the frame lines did not agree with the image I was shooting after I had dropped it and assumed that I had damaged it. Only afterwards did I realise that I was not shooting at 4:3.

Having said all that - I find a viewfinder useful.

I have done a search on ways to fix the loose fit. I can't find the previous posts. Help?
