kzooleica Posted December 28, 2009 Share #1 Posted December 28, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) A few questions, one of the probably insultingly basic. I have a few older M lenses, and am considering a used M8. 1. M8 or M8.2? 2. What would I have to have done with my lenses to make them usable with the digital M? 3. Is there any auto-focus with the digital system? Thanks!
Advertisement Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 Hi kzooleica, Take a look here Thinking about used M8. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
andybarton Posted December 28, 2009 Share #2 Posted December 28, 2009 1. M8s are cheaper. 2. Nothing, but if they are wide angle lenses, they benefit from being coded. 3. An M8 is only an M with a chip in it. If you want autofocus, you will need to look elsewhere.
stunsworth Posted December 28, 2009 Share #3 Posted December 28, 2009 You'll also need to buy UV/IR cut filters for all the lenses. Leica or B+W are ok. Note these are _not_ the same as a standard UV filter. The B+W filter you'd be looking for is a 486. 50mm or longer there's no absolute need for the lenses to be coded, though having the focal length in the Exif data may be useful. 35mm is probably borderline, wider than 35mm will need to be coded.
