SUMMICRON 35/2 with wrong depth of field scale

Hi everybody,

I'm a young Leica user (from the photographic point of view ;-) and I've recently bought a M6 with the SUMMINCRON 35/2 ASPH. lens (see attached photo).

The strange thing is that the depth of field scale on the lens seems to be the SUMMILUX version and not the SUMMICRON one because there's the "1.4" number reported and not "2".

I've asked to the italian Leica service who asked to Leica headquarter and the answer was that there was an incredible error when the lens was produced. Of course Leica is available to get back the lens for the repair under warranty.

So the question is: should I send back the lens free of charge in order to bring it back to original configuration but loosing the particularity of this unique sample?

Many thanks for any suggestion.

Filippo
