biglouis Posted December 26, 2009 Share #1 Posted December 26, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I can't quite work out the physics involved but every now and then the barge basin at Hawley Lock on London's Regent's Canal empties. When this happens some of the original structure is revealed. In this case on the left a horse ramp. Until barges became motorised, I assume sometime in the early 20th century, horses were used to tow the barges. Occasionally, an accident might happen and a horse could fall into the canal. These ramps were built in at stages so that a horse could be lead out of the water back onto the towpath. It is interesting to see the archaeology of the industrial revolution exposed in this way. moikle Posted December 26, 2009 Share #2 Posted December 26, 2009 I also like the obligatory supermarket trolley, or two, you have captured. Mike
pauledell Posted December 27, 2009 Share #3 Posted December 27, 2009 Louis, A nice picture with the composition, tonality, sharpness and the narrative to explain the scene. As Mike has pointed out, it appears you caught the same shopping cart that is featured in your other post. Paul
giordano Posted December 31, 2009 Share #4 Posted December 31, 2009 Nicely placed jogger and supermarket trolleys! Reminds me of the Bedstead Men of England.
