sgilder Posted December 23, 2009 Share #1 Posted December 23, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm trying to decide what flash to get for the D2. I'm looking at either the SF20, a nikon SB24/25/28, or one of the Metz. All used. The way I understand it, only the SF 24D will function in auto mode (allowing flash control through the camera) and the rest can all be used manually (set aperture, ev compensation on the flash to match the camera settings). I'm not getting an SF 24. They are just too expensive, esp for what you get (no bounce, no tilt in a flash that costs this much is ridiculous, imho) Anyone have any experience with these and the D2? I can get the SF 20 or a nikon SB24 for about the same price. The leica is small and (supposedly) powerful. The nikon is large, but is a fully featured flash w/bounce and tilt capabilities and full manual control. I know metz makes a ton of flashes and haven't really figured out which one(s) will work best for me. Any suggestions there are welcome. Also, which SCA module would I need for the Metz to work w/the D2? Metz almost has too many option, honestly. Lastly, am I missing something about the Leica flashes? I get the red dot tax on most of their products, but it just seems like the flashes are way overpriced compared to what else you could get for the same money. Don't get me wrong, the design is really interesting. I'm just wondering what the deal is? Anyone that can enlighten me, please do. Thanks again for all the help, Sean

Thanks again for all the help, Sean I use the Olympus FL-40 (as I think Thorsten does also) with the Canon off-camera hot shoe cord. You can also get a bracket, though I never use mine. I like moving the flash around a bit. JT
