ordered a gray M9 october 13, and waiting fairly patiently.

from previous posts i see that B&H seem to be moving some product recently, but i am getting no information from adorama about any future shipments, nor where i am on the list (i did go by the store last week i and i found out, they have 44 grays on order).

the clerk who helped me, complained about he making only $10 on the sale of an M9, i had an immediate response to that but i bit my tongue.

anyone get delivery from them? and if so, could you post the color, date ordered and date delivered?

thank you very much

john

I ordered a black M9 from them on Oct 2. Same as you, I never received any useful information from them when to expect delivery. I cancelled my order with Adorama when B&H accepted online ordering on Nov 22. I am still waiting as well. Good luck to you.

Its fascinating that buyers still go into Adorama and buy across the counter. In NYC you have all the choices. Adorama has limited display stock and a quick walk through would tell one that this isn t a big Leica dealer ..across the counter. On line they are fine but I like BH better.

B&H has high levels of stock , good sales personal and decent pricing. But even there I haven t found any advantage on price or availability by being in the store. I go to B&H if I need to see and touch the product ..but I buy from them on line because of their excellent fulfillment process. Use NAPP for free shipping and BING shopping for a 2-3% rebate. BH tells you if they have it in stock. Adorama takes your order and then tells you frequently its out of stock...they don t charge you until it ships. Adorama has some items that BH doesn t stock and for this I will use them. Prices are no better or worse.

But for Leica in NYC you could to photo village which actually knows the product line ,has a good stock of used Leica equipment. On an M9 the price is the same? And you wont get the "world owes me a living" attitude.

My Opinion,

I have bought my Leica stuff from Bergen County Camera in Westwood, NJ since the late 80's. They are one of the largest Leica dealers in the US and run a clean, NO BS operation. They have good stock and nice used items as well. The staff is great and one of the two owners is almost always around.

While I am not in the market for an M9 at this moment, it might behoove you to give them a shout if you are. The number is on the web site, Bergen County Camera .

BTW, the prices are the same as the well known NYC places and I live in NY.

Best,

Call and check you even HAVE an order with Adorama.

I posted in another thread that as soon as my Nov 20th order from B&H was ready to ship the other day, I started exchanging emails with customer service at Adorama. I have the email that I got confirming my order back on Nov 10th, but according to the CS rep, no order existed! Gave her the order confirmation number and she searched my name & address and nothing.

Yes, I got delivery of a Leica M9 (Black Color, as I wanted), from Adorama on 05 October 2009. I phoned the order in to them around 09 September 2009, because at the time, the Leica M9 had not been added to their web site. I also purchased a Leica 50mm f/0.95, 24mm f/1.4, 90mm f/2.0 lenses from Adorama and have received all of these items. :)

thank you everyone for your responses. helen, i ended up canceling my order this morning (prior to reading your post).

i did have a friend who does a lot of business with adorama get some information for me and ill pass it on now for all those still on their list, seeing information is hard to come by.

1) i was no. 12 on the list (gray body, order oct 12th).

2) there getting 3 gray bodies a week (stefan you SHOULD get 1 soon), so the estimate was 4-6 weeks more for me.

3) everyone on there lists have been calling for information, so i think they got tired of passing out info.

4) B&H, as of this morning are NOT taking orders on the gray body as they dont have a delivery date for them yet.

5) photovillage says they can have a body in 2-6 weeks (black is longer), so i went with them. wish i had done so a month ago when i called them first.

the reality is that for some people, depending on where they are on the list and what body they are getting can get it faster if they change lists even if they have been on one for a while already (the mistake i made).

i will still buy from adorama again, as i have in the past. there is information that they have that they could be passing on to their customers. for whatever reason, customers are having a hard time getting it.

I bought an M7 and an M8 from Adorama on line, along with some lenses. I signed up for the M8 soon after it was shown in Germany. I think I waited about 6 weeks, and suddenly there was my M8. I remember thinking at the time that I would probably have to wait another several months, based on the then excited comments about the M8.

I think Adorama is an honest outfit; you just have to get used to dealing with New York!! No sentiment there.

steve.

adorama is an honest outfit, and i will continue to do business with them.

my decision to switch is purely on the basis that someone else might be able to get it to me sooner.

im a professional photographer, so its more than just wanting to get my hands on a "new toy". i have work i want to get done.

Adorama was absolutely horrible and will not give them any of my business again. Placed the order on 9-9-2009 and was given the run-around for two months dealing with inept and rude salespeople. This is without mentioning all the times I placed orders for items supposedly "in stock" only to get an email later saying that they were on backorder. Cancelled the M9 order, went to my local dealer and had the camera within 10 days. B&H is getting most of my business now.

Adorama is an honest outfit. Businesswise, they are not even close to B&H. I have ordered numerous times from both, but if I pre-order or urgently want something I end up cancelling from Adorama and going to B&H as soon as they open their online order channels. From experience their "out of stock" or "backorder" wait is frustrating (even more) compared to B&H.

I did the same for the M9, and have received on the 12/22 (ordered 11/20), I am lead to believe to I will still be waiting if I kept my list with Adorama. Out of guilt, I still go back for smaller in stock items for the numerous times I had cancelled, but that's me :p

One last thing, all my interactions with Adorama have been extremely friendly, and have only been honest but on 'occassions' their stocking ability is limited when compared to the "giants".

I ordered a black M9 online on 9/30/2009. and the camera was delivered to my office in Hong Kong on 12/10/2009. The shipment took 2 days via USP from NYC to Hong Kong, Asia. I trust the service of Adorama, my Wate was also bought online last year.
