M4-2 Query

OK I succumbed! Back in '82 I owned an M4-2 and I've just bought another. Its in very good condition and appears to work well considering its age but has two 'oddities'. Firstly the serial number shows it to be an early one (1469XXX) but this serial number is outside the 'range' shown in the wiki - no doubt this is due to vagaries in the Leica serial number allocation? Secondly, it has a small square badge fixed to it below the frame selector which has a logo of a capital C with a small i below and inset into it, and written around the square (clockwise starting from the top) is: import azion cattanao garan, which I assume was the importer, perhaps someone would know? Thanks

Thanks JC.

So its an R3 in disguise:D. I assume just a Leica oddity in numbering. It appears to be an early one from this serial number anyway, and it has Made in Canada on the top above the hotshoe and black strap lugs which also appear to have vanished on the later bodies - the later lugs were chrome by the look of them.

Interesting, I'd guessed the badge was from a Leica Reresentative/dealer in Italy but nice to have confirmation. I'll try to post a pic so that there is a record of an 'early' M4-2 here (there don't seem to be that many M4-2 posts).
