Anyone using Cone's K7 color inks in a 2400?

Geoffrey--

You can try a software [freeware] program called Shades [latest version will come up if you do a Google search, near the top of the list]. It will reduce the monitor brightness, has worked well for me. I should note that I only print B&W on my 3800, so I am not certain what it will do to color calibration, but it is easy to switch off.

Good luck,

It sounds like you are close to the same stage as I am on the 4880...I got the Epson stand and Tumi cover last week. Now for the inks and paper. Yes, Lee has autographed several of them - one, Letters From The People, to my son when he was 2 (now 20 years old) and I used that to teach him his alphabet. As for recent books that have exceptional print quality, look at, Lee Friedlander: Photographs Frederick Law Olmsted Landscapes, and his book on New Mexico. Visually packed photographs and the tonal range is exquisite. Thomas Palmer did the plates - there is no one better.

As for the Cone inks, I am looking at getting his new Special Edition inks instead of the selenium set. Still have to see the sample prints though. Do you buy your paper from him as well or is there a better place?

Geoffrey, I generally check 3 sources for my papers, and go with the best price (varies due to special discounts, etc)...Shadesofpaper.com; Atlex.com; and B&H.

I also checked a couple of my Friendlander books...Portraits and Factory Valleys...each has wonderful tonalities and matte surfaces. Hope you get the look you're after.

Jeff
