Elmo Posted December 9, 2009 Share #1 Posted December 9, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) As I sit here looking at my new 35f2 ASPH glass and dreaming about delivery of the M9, I thought it a good time to make the choice between C1 and LR3. I can spend $100 and upgrade C1 [which I never used]to v5 or get the LR3 demo and get started training myself. My limited understanding is that Leica is going to provide LR3 at no cost and it will be their preferred image management software. So, my question, which software should I commit to. And, can someone suggest some training materials
Advertisement Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 Hi Elmo, Take a look here Capture One [v5] or Lightroom [v3]. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
d2mini Posted December 9, 2009 Share #2 Posted December 9, 2009 My limited understanding is that Leica is going to provide LR3 at no cost and it will be their preferred image management software. I've been asking this question and haven't gotten an answer yet. Does anyone know if the lightroom download code can be saved and used for LR3 or is it only good for LR2? Or will we get a free upgrade from 2 to 3 when 3 eventually comes out? As far as which software is better, i've struggled for this myself and own both and settled on Lightroom for it's substantially better UI, available plug-ins and file management system even though C1 has the edge in the initial raw conversion. I wish the two could be combined into one holy grail piece of software.
Jamie Roberts Posted December 9, 2009 Share #3 Posted December 9, 2009 C1 all the way. It's better than LR IMO in almost every way (for me) and not that hard to use anymore. YMMV--just an opinion.
microview Posted December 9, 2009 Share #4 Posted December 9, 2009 C1 all the way. It's better than LR IMO in almost every way (for me) and not that hard to use anymore. Not so sure. I quickly abandoned LR (too complicated to grasp) but today I reloaded it and was pleased with some landscapes, etc, relative to C1 renderings. Still think C1 is so much easier to use (non Pro version) but DNG conversions have perhaps slightly less colour richness – not sure which is more true to life though.
