Has anyone made experiences with these lenses on the M9: Â 18mm Super Elmar 18mm ZM Distagon 24mm Elmar 3.8 Â They are all certainly good lenses - but what about the currently existing issue with the red side? Â Can the 18mm ZM be corectly coded to be recognized directly as Super Elmar? Â Thanks for you opinion! Â rgds JPH

thechief Posted December 8, 2009 Share #2  Posted December 8, 2009 Hello! Can the 18mm ZM be corectly coded to be recognized directly as Super Elmar?  Thanks for you opinion!  rgds JPH  Hi, I have no experience using this lens with Leica M9 however with Leica M8.2 it is great lens. Firstly, I have tried to code this lens as Super Elmar but it was not recognized by camera, then coding was applied as WATE, it's work, only need further 18mm confirmation at camera menu which automatically appears upon camera switching on. Ario Arioldi Posted December 8, 2009 Share #3 Â Posted December 8, 2009 Hi,I have no experience using this lens with Leica M9 however with Leica M8.2 it is great lens. Firstly, I have tried to code this lens as Super Elmar but it was not recognized by camera, then coding was applied as WATE, it's work, only need further 18mm confirmation at camera menu which automatically appears upon camera switching on. My ZM 18 triggers the 50/75 frame lines and as such can be coded as SuperElmar 18. To code it as WATE you need a bayonet which triggers the 28/90 frames which is not my case. Having said that my experience with M9 is that none of the available codes (either manually set or auto) is actually giving satisfactory result and therefore, with the present FW, I prefer to use CornerFix to correct vignetting and color shift. Cheers, Ario

Cheers, Ario Similar experience with the ZM - codes as the Super Elmar 18mm, some small red-shift issues, but easy to fix with Lightroom colour gradient filter (alternative to CornerFix... ) Â See discussion here: Â http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/leica-m9-forum/108078-m9-lenses-red-edge-problem.html#post1140980
