Leica M3 - When Was it Produced

Thank you for the information.

According to an article on Wikipedia, the M3 was produced from 1954-1966 and over 215,000 made during this period. Therefore I am a little confused about your 7,500 figure. Is my M3 one version of the overall M3 series?

Also, for insurance purposes, is it more desirable to have a M3 produced early in the run, such as mine, or produce later when they were able to work out any issues with the model?

Thanks

807500 - 800000 = 7500 is the units produced in 1955 with unrecorded exact date of production. Certainly M3 total production for 1955 were far more than this batch but their serial number ranges were outside your 800000-807500. Nothing really special about your 800995 unless it's in pristine condition. Then the value will be more. Premiums are paid by collectors for really very very early production run M3 (70xxxx) and late runs (11xxxxx). Hope this helps.
