Flash for my D2 and soon to be d-lux4

If you plan to take the Leica road, it might be better to look at the Metz line.

When I was shopping for a flash for my Digilux 1 five years ago, I had an eye on using it for my next purchase, the D2. Happily, I got the Metz 44 MZ-2, which I soon found out to be compatible with my M6TTL as well. If you go to their website, its compatibility extends to D-lux4 and as far as the M8.2 and possibly the M9.

Metz models make extensive use of interchangeable SCA adapters, and they may have one for your Nikon, too.

Hope this helps.

Dean--

The two cameras use completely different flash systems.

The SF24 from Leica was designed with the Digilux 2 in mind, and all their functions work hand-in-glove.

But the D-Lux 4 has a different setup (same as Olympus', I think) that can't use the special functions of the SF24, though the flash would work in Manual and in Auto modes.

The SB600 has a third set of pinouts, I believe. I think it would be usable only in Manual mode on the Digilux 2 and the D-Lux 4.

Frank is right that Metz is the only company that makes a line of flashes with interchangeable shoes to work with different cameras. You might find a model that would work with your Nikon and both your Leicas by switching back and forth among three SCA modules.
