santila Posted July 6, 2006 Share #1 Posted July 6, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) I would like to suggest that uploading photos should be less the 1024 pixels in the long dimension at 72 ppi. Larger ppi or dpi will not show up any better because screen resolution is at this level. You may upload larger photos but it will not be any better and the viewer need to scroll to see the entire image and that can be frustrating and just close and leave the imige viewing. If you don't know how, one option is go and download one of the best program, "Irfanview" and learn how to use it. It is a free shareware and on the pull down menu will have an option to down size your image, by this you not loosing any image quality however it makes a better post. stunsworth Posted July 6, 2006 Share #2 Posted July 6, 2006 Hi Sandor, welcome to the forum. The maximum picture dimension is currently 960 pixels. I tend to post 800 pixels wide for landscape shots and 700 pixels high for portrait. I think we need to recognise the fact that many people are using screen resolutions higher than in previous years. Not sure what ppi has to do with posting pictures.
santila Posted July 6, 2006 Author Share #3 Posted July 6, 2006 Oops, ppi/dpi was wrong. I did mean pixels. Your limitation is OK. However I see photos that needed to scroll in the x-direction just to view the whole frame. I posted a test photo "Snow geese" just to see how it shows up. It is only needed to pull down to fit fully any size of screen. I hope my problem is over to log in and thanks for the welcome.
