Wslam,

You will really enjoy this combination- it is fantastic. However, if you are new to the RF photography and the M system be aware that it may take some getting used to. The creativity that the shallow DOF provides when shooting at 0.95 is exceptional as is the low light aspect.

On the other hand, if this is your first and only lens you have chosen a very challenging lens to enter the RF world with. Focusing is much more difficult than with most other M lenses. The fact that the Nocti 0.95 is such a light magnet with so much glass seems to provide certain other challenges as well.

Your posted photos are very nice and it is obvious that you are skillful. Therefore, if you persist the rewards with this lens will be great. If you get discouraged, keep the Nocti and buy another smaller and easier to use lens to help you get used to Leica rangefinder photography.

If you are not new to Leica or RF photography, my apologies for this discourse.

All the best,

Doug

Hi Doug, Thank you for your advice.

The 50 Noct is not my first M lens. I have a few Crons and also the TriElmar as well. But this is my first Leica Digital. I have a M7 as well which frankly I have never used much... the convenience of digital stole my heart, esp with the flexibility of RAW. I shoot with both Canon and Nikon as well.

I have the two excellent Canon 1.2 L lenses, so the extreme shallow DOF of the Noct is not totally new to me. But the Noct so far has exceeded my expectation. Even at wide open, the images are noticeably sharper and more contrasty than the Canons. I do not know if the lens is the only contributing factor, but I like what I have seen so far.

Congratulation on the M9 and the new Noctilux. Great photo's of the new gear. Iv had my Noct for a month or two and dont find it that hard to focus. And Iv used it (Noctilux 50 1.0) on the M9 and again my keeper as far as focus goes was close to 100% so don't be afraid to use the Noct wide open. Im looking forward to seeing some of your images with the M9 and the Noctilux.
