Nikkor AIS Posted November 24, 2009 Author Share #3 Posted November 24, 2009 Thanks for fixing the link. Most are shot with the Noctilux except the cokin filters image which was with the 35 1.4 @ F2.8 and the old man and sales man at the counter which was wise open with the summilux. The building with the blue sky and the two birds was taken with the Noct at 8 1/2 -11. I still have to down load the first set I shot last week. They where put on flash card that my computer wont recognize. The really horrible image with the brutal purple fringing was taken with a 21 f4 Super Angulon at 2500 ISO. I really want to see the first set I took before I make up my mind if the M9 is for me or not. There next shipment is in three weeks so I have a little while to hum and haw. I was told that if I put my money down there is a very good chance i will have it in less than a month. So I cant complain there. Im very grateful that the local Lecia rep delivered it personally for me to try out. Thank you very much. The fact that my local bricks and mortar camera store let me walk around and take some shots outside is very decent. Im going to try it with a top end card tomorrow and a fresh battery to get a real sense of what the camera will do when it's pushed a little.I also picked up a summicron 50 f2 from a pal and Im curious how it will work on the M9 digital. The Voitlander 15 is fine but from what I can tell the 21 f4 is unusable on the M9. That's okay It will be fine on film. Gregory
brill64 Posted November 24, 2009 Share #4 Posted November 24, 2009 ..thanks for the link to your site, you make an m6 look tiny in your hands!did you remember to change the setting for the 21/f4 manually in your demo m9 before taking the pic? was it fitted with a lens hood. these could be contributing factors to the purple fringing. look forward to seeing more pics when you receive your m9:D
Nikkor AIS Posted November 24, 2009 Author Share #5 Posted November 24, 2009 Thanks for looking. To answer your question yes I tried to program the 21 F4 in the menu, and I use the Auto as well. No joy. Thats okay I really want the 21 1.4 and really dont need much of an excuse to talk my self into it:p. I added a couple more image on my smug mug taken with the M9 and some taken of the M9 with my D3 and the 45 P.C. I have couple of nice one's of the sensor. And the M9 with the Noct. I still have the best M9 image on the card in camera of the M9 and the Noct on the brochure with the M9 logo and the Noctilux on the same plane of focus. I try and get on the Smug mug before to long. I know some people like that sort of camera porn. And Im one of them:D. Im going to go go down and get the rest of my images of the camera store computer I took with the M9 the first day. I wonder how many frames time they will let me spend using the the M9 before they. A. Sell me the Demo model. B. Kick my ass out of the store. C. Finally have a new M9 to sell me. Like a said I have a 50 2 Summicron that Im really interested to see how it looks on the M9 . And I need to take some film in before an assignment tonight. Edit: I uploaded the Lecia M9 and Noctilux image for your viewing pleasure.

Nikkor AIS Posted November 24, 2009 Author Share #7 Posted November 24, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks Maurizio I really appreciate the kind words. Yes, the the dog, with the porcupine quills is really quite an image. I have mixed feelings about that shot as he was in considerable pain and I spent my vacation money removing the quills paying for vet bills and medication. Than he got an infection..00, But that's why we call him "The champ". Gregory

Bo_Lorentzen Posted November 25, 2009 Share #9 Posted November 25, 2009 Steve, Excellent review, I have been looking forward to seeing how you would present this, very well done. If anything maybe slice some of the vertical image and put them side by side.? Totally agree with your conclusions. the Nokton is a slight bit rougher around the edges, optically and build wise, I still like the short focus throw better though. Put a link to your review on my Nokton 50mm 1.1 page BoPhoto.com: Voigtlander 50mm 1.1 - ITS HERE...! .

I may add more today to that page myself with the "split screen" like I did on the main image. I just added one near the end but will be out and about today so I am hoping to get more images. Thanks! sclamb Posted November 25, 2009 Share #12 Posted November 25, 2009 Oh woe! Now I want another Noctilux - and I was sooo happy with my Summilux. Can't believe I bought my first Noctilux new for £1,550 and now a good used one is £4,800. Simon PS Great comparative review as always Steve.
Nikkor AIS Posted November 25, 2009 Author Share #13 Posted November 25, 2009 Thanks for high jacking my thread Steve:p. No really, great review, and really nice images. I love the B+W conversion. I considered the Nockton but my lust for the Noctilux goes back since I started photography over 20 years ago. Gregory SmugMug Photo & Video Sharing. You look better here. stevem7 Posted November 26, 2009 Share #16 Posted November 26, 2009 So you keeping the Noct, Steve? ;-) I hope so. I have a sale pending on my black paint coded 50 pre asph, just awaiting payment. If that goes through the Noct will be staying with me.
Guest mc_k Posted November 26, 2009 Share #17 Posted November 26, 2009 thanks for the review S.H. I was surprised to see the rough Nokton highlights wide open. I notice some lenses have a round stop in front of the blades, which is the maximum aperture. And don't some lenses have round highlights at all apertures? How does one design for this? Just curious
