andybarton Posted November 26, 2009 Author Share #21 Posted November 26, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Additional note added to the instructions: • Any contributor who does not want his or her photographs to be included on a subsequent website, or for that matter, anywhere other than the book, should make this absolutely clear to Steve Unsworth, when submitting the photos for the book project, so that the photographs may be tagged accordingly. This will not affect the judging for the purpose of inclusion within the book in any way, of course.
Advertisement Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 Hi andybarton, Take a look here The Leica User Forum Book - contributions sought. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
bill Posted November 26, 2009 Share #22 Posted November 26, 2009 £550 since Monday...! This is a great start. Remember that you can donate and then select your photos at leisure up to the deadline - you have to donate first, but you don't have to upload at the same time. We had, at a rough estimate, over 190 declarations of "I'm in!" on the original thread. At just £10 per entrant, this would equate to £1900. If everyone who declared an interest actually enters the maximum of 3 photos, that is a whopping £5700 + Gift Aid for UK taxpayers - we still have a long way to go! Thank you so much to those who have donated already - let's keep going! Regards, Bill
Ed_K Posted November 28, 2009 Share #23 Posted November 28, 2009 Just did my share and would like to thank you once again Bill and many other forum members here helping out with this noble cause and make it possible.
dhsimmonds Posted November 28, 2009 Share #24 Posted November 28, 2009 Andy, that's brilliant news. Thank you to Steve, Andy and Bill for organising this and for the hard work that I know these things entail. I am sure that the book will be a resounding success, producing yet more funds for this very worthwhile charity.

I'm looking forward to seeing a lot more go through over the coming month from all those folk who declared "I'm in!" to the original call for interested parties. Bigfeet Posted November 30, 2009 Share #27 Posted November 30, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I must have missed it, what camera are you looking to get the submissions from? Does it have to be digital, or can we submit film? Thanks, Bigfeet
andybarton Posted November 30, 2009 Author Share #28 Posted November 30, 2009 All the instructions are in the first post in this thread. So long as the shots comply with the Forum rules, they are very welcome. Film or digital. One component (at least) of the camera/lens must have been made by Leica. haribo Posted December 1, 2009 Share #32 Posted December 1, 2009 Just wondering, why is it always some cancer research project that's the beneficiary? Aren't there any other research projects worth supporting????? Cancer research projects are probably some of the most supported projects out there. Wouldn't it be nice for a change to have another lesser known, yet as deserving research project to be the beneficiary. Some organization maybe that in fact is in dire need of research funding????? I'm pretty sure there are countless other illnesses to choose from that could truly need some research funding. Just a thought.
bill Posted December 1, 2009 Share #33 Posted December 1, 2009 Haribo, I shall answer this, since it was me who nominated AICR in the first place. The logic was simple; firstly it is a worldwide charity, and therefore appropriate to the worldwide reach of this Forum. Secondly there are very few of us who have not been touched, either directly or indirectly, by cancer, and none of us who can put our hands on our hearts and say that we are safe from it in the future. There are many worthy charities - I support two others myself - but this is the choice, and it will be money well spent. Regards, Bill

andybarton Posted December 3, 2009 Author Share #36 Posted December 3, 2009 We have broken the £1,000 barrier in the last couple of days, which is a great effort so far. On behalf of everyone who has been involved in organising this, many thanks to everyone who has contributed to date, and I am hoping that more people will be motivated to join the project as the month progresses. bill Posted December 6, 2009 Share #37 Posted December 6, 2009 Update: 1 week in, 31 donations - a long way short of the 192 people who declared "I'm in!" on the first thread on this subject. andybarton Posted December 6, 2009 Author Share #38 Posted December 6, 2009 Human nature, I suppose, Bill.
bill Posted December 6, 2009 Share #39 Posted December 6, 2009 Are we human, or are we Leica?* There are only three weeks to go before the deadline. I know that this is a busy time of year, but I expect better from people here. If I say I will do something, I do it. IT IS FOR A WORTHY CAUSE. COME ON, PEOPLE. Regards, Bill *with apologies to the Killers.
Guido Posted December 6, 2009 Share #40 Posted December 6, 2009 Contributors must have been members of the Forum for at least 90 days before the start of this project. (i.e must have joined before 24th August 2009)Too bad this restriction is in place. I would have plenty of M6 shots, but I joined this forum only after ordering an M9, which was a month after the deadline.
