holmes Posted November 22, 2009 Share #1 Posted November 22, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I searched and hunted and found in different places two R6.2s and one R7. I sent one at a time to Wisconsin for examination and any service. I must of been lucky as all three only needed 3/4 service rather than the 100% full service. They're as close to new as I can get them and the results have not been disappointing. A word to anyone who purchases used equipment. Get it in to a good Leica service center even if it means waiting a few weeks before you can really start to use it. Shoot one roll of chromes and look for any flaws or problems so you can advise the service center or, send them the chrome(s) with the problems. You'll be happier in the long run. Advertisement Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 Hi holmes, Take a look here All three Leica 'Rs' back from Wisconsin. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
leicamann Posted November 24, 2009 Share #2 Posted November 24, 2009 I am assuming you talking about Don Goldberg at DAG Camera Repair... Don is fantastic I have had all my Leicaflexes done through him,..we have 6 of them. It is absolutely worth it...now how about sharing some photos? Remember he also does lenses as well. Cheers, JRM
holmes Posted December 2, 2009 Author Share #3 Posted December 2, 2009 You are correct when you said Don. I have talked with him on the phone several times. A pure gentleman. I like his idea of either 3/4s service or 100% full service charge with appropriate service All three of my bodies required on 3/4 service meaning they were in good shape when I sent them to him. AS to posting pics. I have my album on the Leica Gallery. Very unsure as to posting to the forum. Any help?
leicamann Posted December 3, 2009 Share #4 Posted December 3, 2009 posting images .. two ways.. right above the Photo Forum is a Permanent link posted by Andy just how to post your images. Here is how I do it: 1) image must be 900x 620 2) no more than 260k files size 3) you can post bigger, but there is an "auto format" HTML code that will smush the image down, making it look ugly 4) right below when you post a new thread or a reply is "button" called "manage attachment, click that and navigate to the image you've created for the web, then click "upload"..wait for a few seconds .. then click "preview" to see if you are successful , if so..then click Post. That is it. If you do much scanning I would recommend you get one version of Adobe Photoshop, if you have a 64 bit OS, then its best to get the most recent Photoshop CS4 64 bit..its blindingly fast. For my scanning software its a tossup between SilverFast AI version 6.6 and VueScan Pro. I have been getting beautiful scans of my Kodachromes from Silverfast AI and finding VueScan does too much color "characterization" which can get very frustrating. Cheers and happy snaps JRM
